Transfer to Secondary School

Now your child has reached Year 6, the final year of primary (Key Stage 2), you must apply for their secondary school place.  The closing date for making an 'on time' secondary school application is 31 October 2023.

Parents should apply for their child's secondary school place through their home local authority - usually Oxfordshire or Reading.

You can expect to receive a school offer (from either Oxfordshire County Council or Reading Council) on 1 March 2024.

Leave request absence for 11+ and secondary school visits

Please inform the School Office the dates your child will be on visits or attending assessment days and their anticipated return time to School.  Please note any such absences will be authorised.  Most secondary school visits take place early morning, therefore children are often back in school mid/late morning and in time for lunch. As such please also let us know if your child requires a school dinner that day, as they will miss the chance to request this option if absent from morning registration.

Private secondary school education

As you can see from the Destination of Leavers summary below, a number of our parents choose to educate their children privately after leaving Kidmore End Primary.  If this is something you are considering, references will be required, so please let Miss Dove know you are applying.

Secondary school preparations

Oxfordshire County Council has prepared the following transition guide for parents which you may find helpful:

Transition Days

Gillotts Pioneer Week : TBC - June/July 2024

Langtree Transition Day : TBC - June/July 2024

Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge Transition Day: TBC - June/July 2024

If your child is attending, please do let the school office aware so we know not to expect your child in school that day.  Their absence will of course be authorised.
